Outspan Hospital started operations with the establishment of an Out Patient Department on August 7, 2001. A month later, the In Patient Department was opened with a capacity of 21 beds. Currently, the Out Patient Department has evolved into a one stop shop for all medical services expected of a national referral hospital. Despite the high cost of day to day operations and purchase and maintenance of modern medical equipment, The Outspan Hospital has retained very low rates in charges and fees. Some of the rates have never been reviewed since the facility opened its doors.

Addiction Counselor

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive substance-use and psychosocial assessments to identify clients’ treatment needs, strengths, and risks.
  • Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with clients and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based addiction counseling approaches, including Motivational Interviewing and relapse-prevention interventions.
  • Provide psychoeducation on addiction, recovery, coping skills, healthy lifestyles, and relapse prevention to clients and their families.
  • Support clients throughout the recovery continuum, including engagement, treatment, abstinence, relapse management, reintegration, and aftercare.
  • Monitor client progress, identify barriers to recovery, and recommend appropriate adjustments to treatment interventions.
  • Provide crisis intervention within scope of practice and facilitate referral to appropriate medical, mental health, or specialized services when required.
  • Develop individualized discharge and aftercare plans with clients and the multidisciplinary treatment team to promote continuity of recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, treatment documentation, progress reports, and outcome data in accordance with hospital, departmental, and Ministry of Health standards.
  • Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement activities and continuous professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Counseling psychology from a recognized Institution.
  • Evidence of training in addiction counseling/chemical dependency counseling
  • Served a similar position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Must be a registered member of the Counselors and Psychologists Board (CPB)
