Coverage Analyst (East Africa) (National TDB Volunteer)
Job Summary
- The Coverage Analyst provides financial analysis, administrative, and technical support to the East Africa Coverage officers to advance TDB Group's operations, grow its client coverage strategy and support revenue generation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The key roles and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Support the coverage team to manage the day-to-day tasks and activities required to deploy TDB Group solutions.
- Support pipeline development and management by working closely with the East Africa coverage team and lending operations and helping process investment transactions.
- Maintain dashboards of investment portfolio and pipeline.
- Financial modelling: Build and maintain detailed valuation and debt capacity models, including discounted cash flow (DCF).
- Help screen projects at early stages for financial viability, risk, and development impact.
- Analyze operations and different business models in the relevant industry and support Coverage Officers in preparing country, sector and client strategy papers.
- Conduct industry, market, and company research including undertaking financial review and analysis of customers financial statements to assist with identifying customers' needs and crafting bespoke solutions.
- Support the deal team in undertaking tasks required in deal approval process including due diligence, appraisal, and approvals.
- Prepare presentation decks, memoranda, kick-off presentations, proposals for client meetings using Microsoft tools.
- Build and maintain quality internal and external client relationships with a high level of responsiveness (including client coordination to ensure TDB Group's receipt of needed information).
- Conduct mapping to assess business opportunities for TDB Group.
- Develop and update the lessons learnt database and knowledge management materials.
- Support Coverage Officers during disbursement by proactively engaging with lending operations, treasury and other departments to ensure timely disbursement.
- Support various technical and administrative tasks in connection with the management and the closing of transactions handled by the department (e.g., making, and receiving phone calls, and preparing and sharing correspondence, routing of documents, processing instructions and invoices to customers, etc.).
- Maintain transaction and customer information in accordance with applicable policy.
- Support various operation-related projects and initiatives in the department.
Qualifications and Competencies
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, with relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA or equivalent as added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in lending or investments related area including in debt or equity.
- Aptitude in accounting, finance, financial modelling, DCF, scenario analysis, and comparable financial statement analysis.
- Ability to conduct market and industry research and analysis including market conditions and gaps.
- Ability to write and speak clearly in a logical, comprehensive yet concise manner.
- Proven attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse, distil and summarize large amounts of information.
- Ability to actively listen to and identify client and stakeholder needs.
- Ability to utilise graphics and tables to effectively and creatively present data.
- Ability to manage and complete multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, manage dynamic priorities, strong professional independence, unquestionable integrity and able to work under pressure to deliver on strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

- Fluency in English is a requirement. Knowledge of another official language of TDB Group's member states (French or Portuguese) would be an added advantage.
