Load Control

Purpose

To perform all the weight and balance functions for Kenya airways flights and customer airlines with the prime responsibility of ensuring SAFETY of the passengers, crew, and the aircraft. Promote and maintain a positive, Safety, Quality and Security culture for Kenya Airways and its. Partners by ensuring compliance with relevant industry, legislative and company standards therefore creating a healthy, safe and secure environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and communicate to loading personnel a load plan that is in line with aircraft loading processes on a shift basis to ensure optimized utilization of aircraft space and performance and expeditious cargo and baggage handling for customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare accurate load sheet that shows load distribution, passenger cabin seating, special loads and LMCs that conform to company policy and procedures and customers’ SLAs on a shift basis.
  • Calculate accurately EZFW that is within the limits required by the company to minimize unnecessary extra fuel uplift in the entire KQ route network and provide the same to Flight Dispatchers in a timely manner.
  • Report to the shift leader Weight & Balance daily performance details in a timely manner to enable cost effective actions and safe flight operations.
  • Ensure implementation of safety, security, and emergency standards always.
  • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment in compliance with the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.
  • Promptly report any quality, safety or security related issues, defects, near-misses or nonconformities as per established reporting channels.
  • Avail a copy of signed NOTOC to OCC for emergency purposes and advise to destination airport.
  • 100% compliance with customer airline Weight and balance, and customer Airline SOPS, enabling safe practices and compliance with aviation and other legislation.
  • Monitor and advice Flight dispatchers and Flight deck crew EZFW changes to help ensure optimum fuel uplift, especially tankering routes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Flight/Airport Operations or Certificate in Weight and Balance OR
  • University graduate in mathematics/applied sciences or related courses is an added advantage
  • Computer literate.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in Flight Operations or Airport Operations.
  • Conversant with KQ’s commercial activities and processes
