Strathmore College was started in 1961 as an Advanced-level Sixth Form College offering Science and Arts subjects by a group of professionals, who formed a charitable Educational Trust (now the Strathmore Educational Trust). Strathmore College was the first in Pre-independence Kenya to accommodate all races, religions and social standing. Saint Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei, inspired and encouraged them to start the College.

Administrator, Mentoring

Basic job summary:

  • The job holder is responsible for carrying out the administrative duties of the Student Mentoring Services department in line with the strategic goals of the University.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with the Manager of Student Mentoring in the operationalization of the Mentoring Services office work plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate training and workshops for mentors to ensure continuous improvement of mentoring services.
  • Create awareness among students on the importance of mentoring and liaise with students and mentors to identify and provide solutions to challenges hindering the mentoring process.
  • Promote the student awareness week and carry out surveys on student satisfaction with mentoring.
  • Monitor and review mentoring reports on the Academic Management System and
  • follow up with both mentors and students to ascertain whether mentoring is taking place and the effectiveness of programs.
  • Oversee the training of part-time mentors.
  • Facilitate the administrative duties of running the industry mentoring programme
  • Coordinate parents’ training sessions.
  • Manage the development of IT infrastructure necessary for the mentoring functions (e.g., website, MyStrath app)
  • Ensure the implementation and compliance of the University’s policies on student mentoring by all stakeholders.
  • Conduct frequent visits and inspections to assess the suitability of student hostels and ensure records are up to date.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or business-related field.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience
