Radio Access Network Technician/Rigger
Key Responsibilities (Based on Assigned Function):
- Install, configure, commission, and maintain microwave radios, LTE/GSM equipment, and other telecom infrastructure at tower and rooftop sites.
- Conduct Physical Acceptance Tests (PAT) and site quality inspections for newly installed equipment and infrastructure.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of telecoms equipment to ensure maximum network uptime and service quality.
- Carry out troubleshooting and replacement of faulty radio, transmission, and power equipment on tower and rooftop installations.
- Support network optimization activities including drive tests, signal analysis, fault diagnostics, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and support electrical power systems including rectifiers, batteries, generators (DEG), power distribution systems, grounding, and site electrical protection systems.
- Monitor and inspect site electrical installations to ensure compliance with electrical engineering standards and safety requirements.
- Conduct periodic inspection and maintenance of tower and rooftop infrastructure, including rust treatment, earthing quality checks, and structural observations.
- Conduct site surveys, technical assessments, and feasibility studies for network expansion and infrastructure improvements.
- Support implementation of network upgrades, modernization projects, and new technology deployments.
- Prepare maintenance reports, incident reports, acceptance documentation, and operational records accurately and on time.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, technical support, coaching, and work allocation for the reporting technician to ensure efficient field operations and compliance with standards.
Minimum Qualifications Required Skills & Competencies:
- Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in telecom field operations, radio systems, or network maintenance.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of microwave radio systems and LTE/GSM equipment.
- Relevant vendor certifications will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, AC/DC power systems, rectifiers, generators, batteries, grounding, and electrical safety practices.
- Valid Fall Arrest Certification with at least one year before expiry.
- Certification or training in RF Awareness, HSE, and DOSH regulations.
- Must be physically and medically fit for working at heights and field operations
