Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement regional HR priorities that support HR initiatives while addressing local nuances and challenges.
- Lead to the development of HR policies and programs, providing a regional perspective.
- Act as a change agent, leading and supporting organizational transformations and initiatives within the region.
Talent Acquisition & Management
- Oversee regional talent acquisition strategies, ensuring effective sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent.
- Develop and implement regional talent management programs, including performance management, succession planning, leadership development, and employee training initiatives.
- Organise and execute leadership development programs and provide coaching for regional leaders and managers, ensuring they have the capabilities to lead and develop their teams effectively.
- Monitor regional workforce planning and ensure the availability of necessary skills and talent to meet current and future business needs.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Provide guidance on labour matters and compliance to ensure HR risks are well managed, including guidance/direction and participation in Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Provide expert guidance and support on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies to foster a positive and inclusive work environment, enhancing employee engagement and retention.
Compensation & Benefits
- Lead the design, implementation, and administration of competitive and compliant compensation and benefits programs for the region, considering local market conditions and regulations.
- Conduct regular market analysis to ensure the competitiveness of regional compensation and benefits structures.
- Manage the compensation review processes and bonus programs within the region.
Organizational Development & Effectiveness
- Support organizational design and restructuring efforts within the region to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve organizational culture, communication, and collaboration.
- Facilitate leadership development programs and coaching for regional leaders and managers.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all relevant local labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements across all countries in the region.
- Oversee the effective management of HR information systems (HRIS) and data integrity for the region.
- Manage HR budgeting and resource allocation for the region.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional HR team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the HR team.
- Set clear goals and objectives for the regional HR team and conduct regular performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in HR Management, Strategic Management, Commerce or relevant field
- Professional HR certification, i.e., CHRP(K), CIPD, SHRM, etc.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Human Resource Management, with at least 7 years in a senior HR leadership role with regional or multi-country responsibility. Experience in the hospitality industry will be an added advantage
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Proven track record in talent acquisition, talent management, employee relations, compensation, and organizational development.
- Experience working in a complex, matrixed, and/or global organization highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices across multiple countries within the African region.
